Report Tracks Diversity Gains, Areas for Improvement in Orchestras
A Tempo Saturday (6/10 at 7 pm) takes a look at the latest Report from the League of American Orchestras.
The League of American Orchestras recently released a report tracking changes in diversity, equity and inclusion among U.S. orchestras. The data shows gains in representation among musicians, conductors, music directors, staff, top executives and board members made by people in various ethnic and racial groups, as well as by gender, and also highlights existing disparities.
A Tempo host Rachel Katz this week discusses some of the findings and ways to further bolster progress with League President and CEO Simon Woods, and interdisciplinary arts activist Garrett McQueen.
