Expanding Youth Music Program Looks Ahead under New Leadership

A Tempo this Saturday (8/5 at 7 pm) features a conversation with the new President and CEO of Capital Harmony Works.

A year and a half after bringing together several youth music programs in Trenton, Capital Harmony Works has transitioned to new leadership as it heads into its next chapter. The organization, which is comprised of the Trenton Music Makers orchestral program, Trenton Children's Chorus, and Music for the Very Young, named
former Princeton music teacher and Newark Boys Chorus School Director Paul Chapin as its new President and CEO last month. He succeeds Carol Burden, who is moving on to new opportunities in New York after leading Trenton Music Makers since 2015 and helping guide the 2022 merger.

A Tempo host Rachel Katz will speak with Chapin about bringing his experience to the music programs, which mostly serve students and families who might not otherwise have access to music education or instruction, and the role music can play in their lives. This week's episode also includes an excerpt from a December 2022 conversation with Burden about the impact Trenton Music Makers has had on its students.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
