When Terry D. Loftis steps into his role as President and CEO of the New Jersey Symphony this March, he will join the symphony at a time when it is readying a new headquarters and venue in Jersey City, due to open in the spring of 2026; exploring ways to attract new audiences and engage with its community; and, as with many other orchestras, developing new revenue and business models.
Loftis, who will be the symphony's first African-American CEO, most recently served as Chief Advancement and Revenue Officer of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and has also been president and executive director of The Arts Community Alliance, a non-profit that supports arts organizations in North Texas, and vice president of the Broadway Strategic Return Fund in New York. A Tempo host Rachel Katz speaks with him about bringing his past experience to New Jersey, his immediate priorities, and what drew him to the orchestra. The program also includes a conversation with NJ Symphony Board of Trustees Co-Chair Craig Silliman.
