Last spring, two of the choruses that are part of the New Jersey Youth Chorus had the opportunity to do a workshop with the ensemble Lyyra, a six-woman a capella group recently launched by VOCES8. That initial collaboration has now led to plans for a combined concert April 25 featuring Lyyra and members of NJYC's girls' choruses.
The collaborations have proven inspiring to the participants both musically and as a way for the young women of the youth chorus to work with professionals in their vocal range. A Tempo Host Rachel Katz chatted with NJYC Founder and Director Patricia Joyce and Lyyra member Aryssa Leigh Burrs about their collaboration.
