Regional Arts Community Reels from NEA Cuts

A Tempo this Saturday (5/10) looks at the impact of the National Endowment of the Arts' withdrawal and cancellation of grants on New Jersey and Pennsylvania performing arts organizations. It also features an interview with Ryan Fleur, the new President and CEO of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts Philly.

Regional performing arts organizations including The Crossing, Tempesta di Mare, Princeton University Concerts, Roxey Ballet, and McCarter Theatre are among those organizations that received emails late last week that the National Endowment for the Arts was terminating or withdrawing grants that had already been approved. Host Rachel Katz speaks with Roxey Ballet Founder and Executive Director Mark Roxey and Princeton University Concerts Director Marna Seltzer about the impact on their programming and bottom line, and with Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance President and CEO Patricia Wilson Aden about the effects these grant cancellations can have on the arts community, and their ripple effects on communities at large.

She also chats with Ryan Fleur, who last month was named the new President and CEO of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts Philly.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
