Young Musicians' Performances Help Raise Spirits and Funds

A Tempo Saturday (7/5 at 7 pm) features a conversation with a Harmony123, an organization of young musicians who perform and raise funds for worthy causes - most recently, the Trenton-based, arts-centric Sprout U School of the Arts.

It was a chance meeting that brought together members of Harmony123 and Sprout U School of the Arts Headmaster Danielle Miller-Winrow. Founded by two brothers in Orlando to expand the reach of performances they were giving at a local retirement community, Harmony123 has grown into a non-profit of young musicians making a difference by sharing their music. Its latest performance, held at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre July 5, raised more than $15,000 for Sprout U, which provides an educational program for students from preschool through high school that puts the arts in the center of learning.

A Tempo host Rachel Katz chats with Harmony123 co-founder and President Ethan Zhang, co-President Laura Wu, Violinist Frances Yong and Art Director Justin Tang, as well as with Miller-Winrow.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
