Early-Career Composers Learn from Orchestral Musicians, Each Other

A Tempo Saturday (7/26 at 7 pm) features a roundtable discussion with the four participants of this year's New Jersey Symphony Edward T. Cone Composition Institute.

The New Jersey Symphony held its annual Edward T. Cone Composition Institute earlier this month, inviting four emerging composers - either studying in university composition programs or just starting out on their careers - to the campus of Princeton University to spend a week honing their skills. Throughout the week, the composers rehearsed their works with the orchestra, receiving feedback from musicians, conductor Christopher Roundtree, and institute Director and composer Steven Mackey. The orchestra performed the works in concert July 19.

A Tempo host Rachel Katz met up with the composers - Max Eidinoff, Hannah Ishizaki, Claire Cope and Nicole Knorr - as they wrapped up their week, and she shares her conversation with them on this week's program.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
