Mason Gross Appointee to Lead Research into Arts and Wellness

A Tempo chats with Ian Koebner, who was recently named Inaugural Chair and Endowed Professor of Arts in Health at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, about the connections between the arts and wellness.

Amid the growing focus on the intersection between arts participation and individual and community well-being, Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School Of The Arts recently announced the appointment of its inaugural Chair and Endowed Professor in Arts in Health. Ian Koebner, a poet with degrees in health management and pain research, education and policy, will lead the school’s efforts to develop public programming, education and research collaborations looking into how participation in the arts can support physical, emotional and social health.

A Tempo host Rachel Katz chats with Koebner about these connections, some of Rutgers’ existing related programs, and his plans to expand and bolster these initiatives.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
