Multimedia 'Dies Irae' Reflects on Modern Crises

A Tempo this week (3/14) explores the theme of next performance in Princeton University Concerts' Music and Healing Series.

The title of the next concert in Princeton University Concerts' Music and Healing series might at first not seem to square with the other performances that have focused on the healing, calming side of music. Violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja's
multimedia Dies Irae project brings together works such as George Crumb’s Black Angels and Galina Ustvolskaya’s Dies Irae setting to explore modern crises of war, refugees and climate change. Host Rachel Katz reaches out to PUC's Director Marna Seltzer and Marketing and Outreach Manager Dasha Koltunyuk to talk about the challenges of staging the work's East Coast premiere and how its exploration of global crises and our role in the future might indeed offer audiences some aspects of healing.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
