Actor Salena Qureshi got her start growing up in New Jersey, attending performances at McCarter Theatre and Kelsey Theatre, and honing her own skills on Kelsey's stage and in school plays. She returned to New Jersey as a lead in McCarter's production of "A Beat of Our Own", which draws inspiration from South Asian music and dance, and it presented her with a rare opportunity to see a part of her background represented on stage. A Tempo host Rachel Katz speaks with Qureshi about her theatrical journey and her latest role.
The program also features the second part of the conversation with Producer Dan Mauer and actor Liz Rzasa about Kelsey Theatre's role in the community.
