"At first I tried assembling a play list entirely devoted to piano music depicting the state of being airborne," says Jed Distler, The Classical Network's Artist-in Residence and creator, producer and host of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys.
"However, the concept fizzled out as one work suggested another, and then another. So this week's episode is not strictly 'Airborne,' yet I happen to love the resulting play list. And I hope listeners will as well."
You'll hear composer/pianist Ioana Ilie, Grigory Sokolov playing Couperin, Larissa Dedova’s Debussy, music from Philip Glass' Dracula, the late Warren Bernhardt's solo piano, Fauré with legendary pianist Eric Heidsieck, plus Vladimir Horowitz's Scriabin Fifth Sonata from Sony/BMG's box set "The Unreleased Live Recordings: 1966-1983."
Tune in to Between the Keys Tuesday night at 10, with a rebroadcast Wednesday at noon, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
