Remembering Piano Playhouse

This week's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys explores archival recordings from Piano Playhouse, legendary radio program that aired between 1943 and 1953, and embraced all styles of piano playing.

The roster of artists appearing on Piano Playhouse represented a veritable Who's Who of the piano scene at the 20th century's midpoint. Featured performers on this special episode include Cy Walter, Stan Freeman, Earl Wild, Erroll Garner, Johnny Guarnieri, Margaret and Forrest Perrin, André Previn, William Masselos, Alexander Uninsky, Grace Castagnetta and Rosalyn Tureck.
