On this week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler presents rare and out-of-print piano recordings that he reconsiders “ripe for reissue.”
“These are releases are no longer in print via physical CD,” Jed says, “although you may be able to find some on downloading or streaming sites. Yet one still has to dig around to source them. Furthermore, many worthwhile recordings fall between the cracks for various reasons: Either they were released in limited pressings, or the labels went out of business. Yet these pianists and recordings need to be heard, and I am always happy to share such treasures from my collection with WWFM's listeners.”
Pianists featured on this episode will include Eric Heidsieck, Oxana Yablonskaya, Tessa Birnie, Huseyin Sermet, Catherine Collard, Geoffrey Douglas Madge, Kun Woo Paik, Karol Szreter, Vladimir Tropp and Valerie Tryon.
