"The holidays bring forth Bach marathons and Handel Messiah sing-ins all the time. So why not include the other great Baroque master born in 1685? After all, Domenico Scarlatti's keyboard sonatas never cease to engage, stimulate and delight listeners!"
So says Jed Distler, The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence and creator, producer and host for the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys. "I program at least one all-Scarlatti episode each year," Jed explains. "Although we already had one this past August, I thought that we could use more holiday cheer this year, so why not another all-Scarlatti program?"
Indeed, why not! The performers will include Margheritta Torretta, Alice Ader, Ivo Pogorelich, Scott Ross, Jean Rondeau, Fernando Valenti, Roland Pöntinen, Vladimir Horowitz, former Between the Keys guest Craig Sheppard, Charles Rosen, Maria Tipo, Peter Katin and Leonid Kuzmin.
