The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler pitches in to our Mozart fund raising drive with a delightfully varied program.
It begins with Misha and Cipa Dichter playing the composer's Sonata for Two Pianos K. 449. Next, Mozart's sublime concert aria "Ch'io mi scordi di te?" receives luxury casting in a recording featuring mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli and pianist András Schiff. Following two Menuets written by Mozart at the ripe old age of five (played by Walter Gieseking), the program concludes with Liszt's brilliant transformation of themes from Don Giovanni into the virtuoso showpiece "Réminiscences de Don Juan." We'll hear it in a classic 1958 recording by the legendary Russian pianist Grigory Ginzburg.
