On this week's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler explores the artistry of the fascinating composer, pianist and musical thinker Ernst Levy (1895-1981).
"Ernst Levy's recordings from the 1950s were cult classics," says Distler. "He brought intellectual rigor and a volatile temperament to his interpretations of Haydn, Beethoven and Liszt, and always compelled you to listen"
We will hear Levy play these composers in live and studio recordings released on CD by the Marston label, along with some of his original compositions.
Tune in to Between the Keys, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org, this Friday at 3:00 PM, with the rebroadcast Saturday at 6:00 PM
