This week's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys celebrates the 150th birthday anniversary of American composer Charles Ives, whose visionary and uncompromising compositions were decades ahead of their time.
His iconic Piano Sonata No. 2 ("Concord") is the centerpiece of this episode, where The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler speaks with pianist and renowned Ives scholar Donald Berman about his recent recording of the Concord, as well as his teacher and mentor John Kirkpatrick, who gave the work its world premier.
Tune in Friday at 3:00 PM and Saturday at 6:00 PM to Between the Keys, an exclusive production of The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
