This week's edition of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys features performances of Beethoven's music by two pianists who also are known for being highly respected music critics: returning Between the Keys guest Stephen Cera, and the late Harris Goldsmith.
Stephen discusses Beethoven's Choral Fantasy with host Jed Distler, who will present a 1976 live recording of Mr. Cera performing the Choral Fantasy with Piero Gamba leading the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Distler also features a rare live recording of the 19-year-old Harris Goldsmith playing Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 5 in C Minor Op. 10 No. 1.
