This week's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys presents an eclectic assemblage of piano works, as well as a few forays outside the keyboard realm.
"I love mixing and matching seemingly improbable musical bedfellows, because, in the end, they usually hand together!," says Between the Keys' creator, producer and host Jed Distler, who is The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence. "Where else besides my old school iPod random play list will you find a minor key Chopin Mazurka on a fortepiano leading into the Scherzo from Shostakovich's 10th Symphony, or Cyril Scott juxtaposed with Art Tatum?"
This fourteenth edition of Between the Keys "New Old and Unexpected" sub-series promises stimulating and entertaining listening. Tune in this Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM, with the rebroadcast Saturday evening at 6:00 PM, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org
