Historic American events inspired many works by the American composer/pianist Frederic Rzewski (1928-2021), as you will hear on this July 4th weekend's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys.
The four Rzewski compositions featured this hour will by Jefferson (1970), Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me 'Round (from Songs of Insurrection, 2016), Coming Together (1971), and Down by the Riverside (from Four North American Ballads, 1979).
