The Classical Network's Artist in Residence Jed Distler presents live performances recorded during the Seventeenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, held in Fort Worth, Texas from May 21st through June 7th 2025.
"I was honored to have been chosen to be the competition's official blogger for Gramophone magazine," Distler says. "Having watched the final rounds live in Forth and the other rounds via The Cliburn's YouTube transmission, I made note of the many outstanding performances that I hoped that The Cliburn organization would permit me to share with listeners. Happily permission has been granted, and this week's episode of Between the Keys will be the first of at least two episodes devoted to performances by these extraordinary pianists, and not just the three medalists."
For this week's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, we'll hear works of Gabriela Montero, Muzio Clementi, Claude Debussy, Unsuk Chin, Alexander Scriabin and Cesar Franck featuring Aristo Sham (Gold Medal Winner), Jonas Aumiller, Chaeyoung Park, David Khrikuli, Carter Johnson, Sung Ho Yoo and Magdalene Ho.
