On this week's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence welcomes special guest Alexandre Dias, who is the founder of the Instituto Piano Brasileiro, the world's largest repository of Brazilian piano music and recordings by Brazilian pianists (https://institutopianobrasileiro.com.br/https://institutopianobrasileiro.com.br/).
Mr. Dias has curated a program of rare selections featuring pianist Arthur Moreira Lima (1940-2024), to mark what would have been his 85th birthday this year.
"We recorded the episode via Zoom a few months ago," says Jed. "I connected with Alexandre at his home base in Brasilia from my New York studio. The sound could be clearer, I admit, yet it is so wonderfully worth it to access such musical treasures, not to mention Alexandre's expertise. After all, no one knows more about Brazilian piano music or Brazilian pianists than Alexandre!"
Tune in to Between the Keys this Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM, with the rebroadcast Saturday evening at 6:00 PM, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
