This week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys welcomes back pianist Steven Spooner as special guest.
“Steven’s recent ten-disc anthology ‘Aspects of Liszt’ really has no modern-day precedent,” says Jed Distler, creator, producer and host for Between the Keys. “He’s a pianist who follows the 19th-century tradition of presenting large-scale programs that cover reams of repertoire, and he finds fascinating and original ways of connecting the dots, so to speak.” On this episode, Steven Spooner talks about this release, from which we will hear a variety of selections, including a comparison between three performances of the Liszt Sonata in B Minor
