For this week’s edition of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler presents his annual all-Scarlatti holiday program.
“Because we associate the holidays with endless performances of Handel’s Messiah and numerous J.S. Bach marathons, we tend to forget about that other Baroque genius born in 1685, Domenico Scarlatti,” Jed says. “So I’ve made it my holiday tradition to offer an annual all-Scarlatti episode on Between the Keys. This time around we have eight performers, each who’ll be heard in two Scarlatti Sonatas a piece.” Artists include Dmitri Levkovich, Christoph Ullrich, Marek Drewnowski, Andrea Bachetti, Anthony Newman, Margherita Torretta, Christian Ihle Hadland and Alexandre Tharaud.
