Mirror IV

Presenting a wide range of works with a unique programming concept this Friday (1/23, rebroadcast Saturday 1/24)

For this week’s edition of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler pays offers the fourth of his “Mirror” programs.

“The concept behind the programming is that the first and last selections have the same composer and same performer. Likewise for the second selection and the second to last selection. We continue this way until the middle. So it’s like the first and second halves of the program represent mirror reflections,” explains Jed. “ For the most part I present two works at a time without interruption. In any case, this is a totally arbitrary way to offer a wide mix of works and styles.”

Featured composers include Karol Szymanowski, Frederic Chopin, David Rakowski, Levko Revutsky, Laura Kaminsky, Cyril Scott, Virgil Thomson, Erik Satie, J.S. Bach, Vladimir Ivanovich Rebikov, Gabriel Grovlez, Alexander Semmler, Bela Bartok and Robert Schumann.

Tune in to Between the Keys, this Friday at 3:00 PM, with the rebroadcast Saturday at 6:00 PM, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
