This week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys kicks off a three part series featuring all of Franz Liszt’s Piano Etudes, featuring a different pianist in each work, and without repeating a pianist.
The first eight of the Twelve Transcendental Etudes are featured this hour, along with Liszt’s symphonic poem Mazeppa, a work that has its roots in the piano etude of the same name.
Featured pianists this hour include Kemal Gekic, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Kirill Gerstein, Yunchan Lim, Minoru Nojima, Claudio Arrau, Earl Wild and Jerome Rose.
Join The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler for Between the Keys, this Friday at 3:00 PM, with the rebroadcast Saturday at 6:00 PM, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
