In this special Monday night broadcast, Nicholas McGegan conducts Beethoven's Romance No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra and the Violin Concerto A Major Op 5 No. 2 by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, the late 18th-century French composer and virtuoso violinist of mixed European and African descent.
The program also includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 and the overture to de Saint-Georges' opera, L’amante anonyme. This concert was recorded in October.
