This season's The Classical Network in Concert kicks off this Friday with a broadcast of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra's performance from last May that included the 1952 Study for Orchestra by African-America composer Julia Perry, who had to overcome both racial and gender bias. The program also features George Gershwin's An American in Paris, and Violist Roberto Diaz, long-time president of the Curtis Institute of Music, joins the orchestra for Hector Berlioz's Harold in Italy.
(Please note: The Classical Network in Concert is switching to a new time - Mondays at 8 pm - later this month. Tune in for the next broadcast concert on Monday, Sept. 11.)
