New Jersey Symphony Performs Works by Cone Composition Institute Composers

This concert broadcast Monday (10/2) presents pieces written by the four young composers who attended the 2023 Edward T. Cone Composition Institute with the NJ Symphony in July.

Composer Steven Mackey, director of the Edward T. Cone Composition Institute run by the New Jersey Symphony, co-hosts this broadcast of the concert premiering music by the four young composers who attended the institute this past July. Following a week of rehearsing, reviewing and revising the scores with the composers, the symphony performed Messages in the Ground byTom Morrison, Kory Reeder’s Walls of Brocade Fields, Sam Wu’s Hydrosphere, and Bya by Yangfan Xu, all featured in this performance. The concert, which was conducted by Case Saglione, also includes music by Mackey.

There will be an encore broadcast of this concert Saturday (10/7) at 2 pm.
