This week we kick off three weeks presenting highlights from the 2023 Strings Music Festival, which has taken place each summer for over 30 years in Steamboat Springs, CO. For our initial broadcast we’ll hear the opening orchestral concert with an early string symphony by Mendelssohn, a symphony by Boccherini and the Violin Concerto by Beethoven with Chee-Yun Kim as soloist. We’ll also hear the young Viano Quartet in a program of music by Piazzolla, Bartok and Canadian composer Kevin Lau.
This week also includes a preview of this year’s Festival that begins on June 22 nd.
