This Centennial Concert - a Retrospective of Chinese-American composer and educator Chou Wen-chung - was held in March at Miller Theater at Columbia University back in March and performed by the ensemble Continuum to mark the centennial of his birth in 1923. Born and raised in China, Chou survived some of its darkest days and came to the US in the 40s, where he would spend decades as a teacher and administrator at Columbia. His served as a major factor in the diplomatic and artistic bridge between China & the US, and many composers of Chinese heritage owe much to his legacy. Born in 1923 he passed away in 2019 at the age of 96. Continuum's conductor, the pianist and teacher Joel Sachs, and Chou's son, Luyen Chou, join David Osenberg as co-hosts for this program.
