Works for Harpsichord and Oboe on Princeton Symphony Broadcast

Harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani joins the symphony in a world premiere on this broadcast Friday (5/1 at 8 pm), which also includes music from Stravinsky's Pulcinella and a concerto for two oboes.

Music Director Rossen Milanov leads the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) in this concert recorded in March, which featured two concertos by living composers for solo instruments that rarely get the spotlight. PSO oboists Lillian Copeland & Erin Gustafson are the soloists in American composer Viet Cuong’s Extra(ordinarily) Fancy: Concerto for Two Oboes, and Esfahani performs in the world premiere of Vaudeville in Teal for harpsichord and small orchestra by English-born, American-residing Julian Grant, commissioned by the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. The program concludes with the music from the complete ballet Pulcinella by Igor Stravinsky, based on works by Giambattista Pergolesi.
