Music Director and longtime President College of Bard Maestro Leon Botstein leads the orchestra, made up of young musicians from across the globe’s great music conservatories and schools and based at Bard College. This program features George Walker’s setting of Walt Whitman for Soprano & Orchestra: Lilacs; two works from Julia Perry - Short Piece for Orchestra and her setting of the Stabat Mater; Ulysses Kay’s Scherzi Musicali; and the 1934 symphony by American composer William Levy Dawson his Negro folks Symphony.
