Tune in for the first of two weeks of selections from a 5-CD boxed set, on the Melodiya label, of Russian state recordings of Dmitri Shostakovich performing his own music. The Cello Sonata, written just prior to the composer’s censure for “formalism” (decadent Western tendencies) in works like his opera “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk,” will feature cellist Daniil Shafran. Also on the program will be an arrangement for piano four-hands of the Tenth Symphony, with the second part played by Mieczyslaw Weinberg. Shostakovich tickles the keys, this Sunday at 10 pm.
