What Makes It Great Swings into the 30s and 40s

Get into the swing of the Big Band era with Host Rob Kapilow this Monday (10/23 at 8 pm).

In this first What Makes it Great of the 2023-2024 season, host Rob Kapilow immerses us in the music that was the rage of the 1930s & 40s with “Swing! The Great Big Bands of the Swing Era.” In this performance, Rob will focus on famous swing tunes by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman. Get ready to tap your toes as Rob welcomes the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Repertory Band and its director -vthe outstanding jazz trumpeter/conductor Jon Faddis.

This performance was recorded earlier this month at WMIG’s home venue, Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center in New York.
