Songs of Gershwin and Kern on What Makes it Great Monday

Peter Schaaf

Host, composer and commentator Rob Kapilow this Monday (9/22) presents another program in his series examining classics from the American Songbook.

The Classical Network begins its 10th season of broadcasting What Makes It Great with host composer, conductor & commentator Rob Kapilow. In addition to the great works of classical music, Kapilow has branched out onto different musical paths with his Great American Songbook series, jazz and even pop music. In this program recorded last May, he leads us through American song standards by Gershwin and Kern and how they are transformed into great jazz through the artistry of great artists like Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson. His two guest vocal artists for this fascinating program are Nia Drummond & Gabrielle Stravelli.

David Osenberg is WWFM Partnership Manager, WWFM Music Director, Afternoon Host, and Host of award-winning Cadenza.
