Bill McGlaughlin and Joseph Horowitz share music by Charles Ives in this special Friday (10/18 at 8 pm) marking the 150th anniversary of his birth.

This special broadcast pays tribute to one of our greatest American musical geniuses, as Sunday October 20th marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Charles Ives. You’ll hear live performances of his music, specifically his songs and piano music, recorded at the Brevard Summer Music Festival and also from a nine-day festival that took place this Fall. Two of the performers at those concerts will be on our broadcast: noted singer William Sharp and pianist Michael Chertock, as well as noted Ives scholar Peter Burkholder. The hosts are author and classical music historian Joseph Horowitz and host of Exploring Music, Bill McGlaughlin.

(There will be an encore broadcast of this program Saturday afternoon at 2 pm).

David Osenberg is WWFM Partnership Manager, WWFM Music Director, Afternoon Host, and Host of award-winning Cadenza.
