This week's opera is the last from the NCPA and features a contemporary Chinese opera about the life and death of the teacher in a mountain village in China.

This week's Sunday Opera features an afternoon of the lovely music of Franz Lehar. The first piece is "The Merry Widow" from the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Following that, is a recording of Lehar's "The Land of Smiles" featuring Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Nicolai Gedda.

China's National Center for the Performing Arts is bringing Western operatic tradition to China, and this is a production of Dvorak's beloved opera "Rusalka" featuring an almost entirely Chinese company.

Bizet's opera looking at lasting friendship, betrayal, and sacrifice, "les pecheurs de pereles" ("The Pearl Fishers") is this week's Sunday Opera from China's National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing.
