It’ll be a bit of nostalgia on this week’s Dress Circle (7/30 – 7:00 p.m.) as we take our first look at a series of CDs published under the title The Smithsonian American Songbook. This program will look at songs by a variety of composers and lyricists such as Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer, Frank Loesser, E.Y. “Yip” Harburg, and Arthur Schwartz. The vocalists come from the world of pop and stage and screen and include some excellent performances by Mary Martin, Gogi Grant, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, The Mills Brothers, Judy Holliday, Bing Crosby, Margaret Whiting, and many more. Join us for an hour of great songs and fabulous singing this and every Sunday. Don’t forget to look for our webcasts of past shows, on line at www.DCSRO.com, and on Facebook!
All the latest on all things Broadway and Hollywood.
