We conclude our productions from the Lyric Opera of Chicago on this week’s Sunday Opera (10/13 3:00 p.m.) with Mozart’s “La clamenza di Tito” which focuses on the Roman Emperor Titus Vespasian who becomes the focus of Vitellia’s revenge because his father deposed Vitellia’s. Even after an attempted assassination and other intrigues, Titus stays true to his compassionate nature, and forgives all resulting in a happy ending. The cast includes Russell Thomas in the title role, Guanqun Yu as Vitellia, and Elizabeth DeShong as the would be assassin, Sesto.
Joining them is Janai Bruggert as Servilia, Taylor Raven as Annio, and James Creswell as Publio. James Conlon conducts. Join Michael Kownacky after the opera as he turns to the ballet world for the rest of the afternoon and Leo Delibe’s complete score for “Sylvia” performed by the Rzumovsky Sinfonia conducted by Andrew Morgrelia.
