Ezio Pinza featured this week November 28 on The Lyric Stage

The Italian bass Ezio Pinza was one of the outstanding figures in opera from the 1920’s to the 1940’s. He performed over a hundred roles from the title role of Boris Godunov in Mussorgy's opera to Doctor Bartolo in The Barber of Seville, at least fifty of them at the Metropolitan Opera.  We will have arias from some of those roles this week on The Lyric Stage, as well as music from his second career as a Broadway star, which began with South Pacific in 1949.
