Between the Keys Goes Under the Radar on February 1st and 2nd

“I’m always on the lookout for pianists who may not be so well known, yet who made fabulous recordings that deserve to be heard,” says The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler, who devotes Episode 345 of his ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys to pianists and composers that he feels are unjustly neglected, or simply deserving of wider recognition.

“I have the online community to thank for turning me on to such artists,” says Distler.” “For example, specialist collectors like to upload super rare and obscure yet potentially important recordings. Or take our recent guest Mark Ainley, who constantly discovers worthwhile pianists that fell between the cracks. And think about piano music by composers like Rossini, Ornstein and Novak:  This is all wonderful repertoire that deserves to be performed much more than it is.”

Tune into Between the Keys this Tuesday February 1st at 10:00 PM, with a rebroadcast Wednesday February 2nd at noon, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org
