The Dress Circle . July 9 . A George Gershwin Tribute, Part 1 - 7:00 p.m.
George Gershwin died tragically young on July 11, 1937, just weeks away from his 39th birthday, and to mark the 80th anniversary of his death, we'll be airing two programs dedicated to his work. The first will feature songs from PARDON MY ENGLISH, STRIKE UP THE BAND, OF THEE I SING, TIP-TOES, TREASURE GIRL, and PORGY AND BESS among others. Some of the singers joining us for the celebration in this first of two programs include Lena Horne, Kaye Ballard, Frank Sinatra, Jane Powell, Dinah Shore, Louise Carlyle, Warren Galjour, Juliet Lambert, Jason Graae, and Arnetia Walker. Of course, George Gershwin will be joining on the piano. Don’t forget to visit the Dress Circle’s website at www.DCSRO.com, and please join us on Facebook.
