The Lyric Stage: Dec. 10 - Highlights of "La Forza del Destino"

Some of Verdi's most irresistibly beautiful music is from "La Forza del Destino", and this week  on The Lyric Stage (12/10) Mirella Freni and Placido Domingo lead a cast of superb Verdi singers in a performance of highlights from the opera. The plot is perhaps one of Verdi's most improbable - an accidental shooting, a brother pursuing his sister and her lover to kill them, etc - but Verdi's capture of the depths of love, hate and fate overcomes any reservations about it. Ricardo Muti conducts the soloists and  the La Scala Orchestra and Chorus.
