On this week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler welcomes again as his guest the Toronto-based pianist and writer Stephen Cera. For Episode 232, Mr. Cera has put together a musical portrait of the Polish-born composer/pianist André Tchaikowsky (1935-1982)
André Tchaikowsky’s name is not so well known to American music lovers, yet he had a substantial career in Europe, particularly in the UK, where he was based later in his tragically short life. “Until Stephen proposed this program, I knew little about André Tchaikowsky,” Distler admits, “except for the fact that he had bequeathed his skull to the Royal Shakespeare Company! But Stephen has put a well-rounded playlist together, including a rare recording of Radu Lupu performing André Tchaikowsky’s Second Piano Concerto. Fascinating stuff, no doubt!”
Join Jed Distler this Tuesday at 10:00 PM for Between the Keys, an exclusive production of The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
