Since there is a need for happy, escapist music, we’ve got some on this week’s Dress Circle (4/26 7:00 p.m.). We thought about which composer gave us the most toe-tapping, happy-bopping music, and Burt Bacharach won. With his long-time lyricist, Hal David, joining him for all but one song, we’ll hear both familiar and unfamiliar songs from his stage musical hit “Promises, Promises” as we sample the original Broadway and West End casts and Broadway revival and his two less than stellar TV and film musicals “On the Flip Side” which starred Rick Nelson and Joanie Summers, and the “bomb that we love” “Lost Horizon,” the musicalization of James Hilton’s novel that lost over $2 million when it opened.
We’ve also planned some of our favorite film songs including themes from “Casino Royale,” “Alfie,” and “The Sad Sack” as well. Tune in on Sunday for a bit of nostalgia that’s sure to make you happy and sing along even if you don’t know the words!
