Geoffrey Burleson visits Between the Keys on September 15th and 16th
Episode No. 273 of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys welcomes special guest pianist and composer Geoffrey Burleson, in conversation with The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler.
“I’ve been wanting to feature Geoff on the program for some time,” says Distler. “He’s a significant member of the music community by virtue of his multi-faceted gifts and broad ranging yet often surprising repertoire, not to mention his important advocacy for the music of his time, as well as his ambitious cycle encompassing Camille Saint-Saëns’ complete solo piano music.”
Burleson and Distler got together to record this episode back in February, a month before the lockdowns. At long last, it is ready to air this week, and features music by Camille Saint-Saëns, Roy Harris, Vincent Persichetti, and Geoffrey Burleson himself.
Tune in Tuesday September 15h at 10 PM, with a rebroadcast Wednesday September 16th at Noon, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
