It’s a showcase of the “shows of December” on this week’s Dress Circle (12/6 7:00 p.m.) as we look at just a few of the shows that opened in New York this month. We’re beginning with a 19th century show, “The Ameer,” by Victor Herbert via a march from the score played by the U.S. Coast Guard Band.
We’ll then jump 120 years to our most recent show, another one that’s on hiatus because of the pandemic, the family drama “Jagged Little Pill” by Alanis Morisette. From various points on that timeline, we’ll hear from shows like “City of Angels,” “Promises, Promises,” “Two Gentlemen of Verona,” “I Do, I Do,” and “Carmen Jones.” We’ll have music by The Gershwins, Kern and Hammerstein, Meredith Willson, and Styne and Robin as well.
