Tenors extraordinaire James Reese (Czech Christmas) and Jacob Perry (English Orpheus, Messiah) perform duets about love, heartbreak and debauchery by Monteverdi, Valentini, d'India, Peri and other Italian trailblazers, backed up by 3 (!) theorbos.
The music of Cruel Amaryllis comes from the period from 1601 to 1643 in Italy and centers on settings of verse by three poets whose careers overlapped with that of the composers.
