Music for Food Princeton: Light in Winter
Music for Food Princeton: Light in Winter
The second and final concert of the inaugural Music for Food Princeton season will take place on Saturday January 31 at 7:30pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton at 50 Cherry Hill Road. Music for Food is a nation-wide initiative of classical musicians to combat food insecurity, a growing concern in our country. We present free concerts and ask for donations in any amount to help our neighbors in need of food and shelter. 100% of the donations this year will go directly to ArmInArm, an impressive community organization that runs food pantries and offers assistance in housing and employment in Mercer County.
Our program, Light in Winter, is centered around composer Bruce Adolphe’s work for violin and piano, Einstein’s Light, inspired by the great scientist’s life and love of music. Violinist Anna Lim and pianist Marija Stroke will first play Mozart’s delightful sonata K378 in B-flat major, which is known to have been a favorite of Einstein’s and is interwoven into Bruce Adolphe’s piece, followed by Einstein’s Light. (Adolphe is well-know in Princeton through his many family concerts at Richardson Auditorium over the years, through his show on NPR “Piano Puzzler”, and through his many books on music and creativity). The evening will conclude with a perennial favorite, Robert Schumann's piano quartet, where we will be joined by rising stars of the chamber music world, violist Hannah Burnett and cellist Joshua Halpern.
